His group features Harry Appleman, one of the finest pianists in the area, and the Thursday night show will double as a fundraiser for Barack Obama's presidential bid. >> Latin jazz vibist Alfredo Naranjo visits the Millennium Stage on Thursday. The jazz continues at the venue on Friday with the Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra, comprised of the finest high school and college musicians from the greater Philadelphia area. 6 p.m. Free

>> Freddy Cole, one of the unheralded great vocalists of his generation, comes to Blues Alley on Thursday for a four night stint. Tickets to the daily 8 and 10 p.m. sets are $25 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.

>> Local jazz-funk act Mojai, which features Le Loup bassist Dan Ryan and Three Stars alum John Lee, sets up shop at the Bossa Bistro & Lounge this Thursday. 10 p.m. No cover

>> Local legend Buck Hill leads a group this Friday at Jazz Night in Southwest. 6 to 9 p.m. $5

>> Baltimore's Tim Green, a gifted young player who has been winning national competitions since high school, will bring his gospel influenced sound to Bohemian Caverns on Friday. The historic club will host local saxophonist Luis Faife on Saturday. Sets are at 9 and 11 p.m. both nights and tickets are $15.

>> Project Natale is comprised of bassist and drummer Joe and Lou Natale, along with soulful pianist Bob Butta and Carl Cornwell on tenor. They will be at Twins Jazz this Friday and Saturday with 9 and 11 p.m. sets. Tickets are $15.

>> Our pick of the week takes place on Monday, with fusion kings Return to Forever at Merriweather Post. The reunited ensemble features Chick Corea, Al DiMeola, Lenny White, and Stanley Clarke. 8 p.m. $40 to $125 + Ticketmaster fees.

>> This seems like a good opportunity to remind everyone that Three Stars alum Thad Wilson leads his outstanding jazz orchestra every Monday night at Bohemian Caverns. 8 p.m. $5 with a two drink minimum.

>> Pianist Bill Harris, a mainstay of the local scene, will be playing 8 and 10 p.m. sets at Blues Alley on Monday night. Tickets are $18 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.

>> Local vocalist Pam Parker has become a regular on the city's jazz circuit and often plays with some of the finest instrumentalists in the area. She will be performing her mix of jazz, R&B and blues on Tuesday at Blues Alley. Tickets to the 8 and 10 p.m. sets are $18 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.
