This Weekend's Traffic And Transit Delays

Metrorail maintenance may make for an interesting read, but that doesn't make it any easier to swallow - unfortunately, Blue and Yellow line riders will get to experience that first hand this weekend. Metro is telling customers who plan on riding between the Pentagon City and Braddock Road stations to factor in an additional 35 minutes of travel time from 7 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday for track work. Additionally, there's going to be some temporary terminus points:

To alleviate train congestion through the single track location, every other Yellow Line train traveling in the direction of Huntington and every other Blue Line train traveling in the direction of Franconia-Springfield will terminate at Pentagon City Metrorail station and return to Fort Totten and Largo Town Center Metrorail stations respectively. All other Blue and Yellow Line trains traveling between Pentagon City and Huntington/Franconia Springfield Metrorail stations will operate every 36 minutes.

Also, for those of you who drive near the Wilson Bridge at night - there will be lane closures on that part of the Capital Beltway from 9 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday (and the same times Monday night and Tuesday morning) for repaving. There will only be one lane open, so you can probably expect some slowdown as people try to get home to enjoy the waning hours of the weekend.

And last, but certainly not least - a whole bunch of Metrobus routes will be altered due to the Revolution March (featuring keynote speaker Ron Paul, don't you know). The march is scheduled to begin Saturday morning, and a list of the affected lines can be found here.
