Moose, I was about to ask the same thing. I was walking out of Fado back home at about 7ish, 7:30 and everyone was crowded at each corner of the intersection. Some folks said there was an abandoned package found in an alley possibly.

Anyone know what was going on with the police at 7th NW between F and H last night? Got out of the Metro at Chinablock to try and grab dinner and most of the southern part of the block was closed off to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic, with a slew of police cars in the middle of the street.

I have to agree. It might not be their "beard and butter" but news outlets live for scare quotes. And it's not just white folk. Fox News have elevated this practice to high art. "Water...cool...refreshing....BUT IS IT RAPING AND EATING YOUR CHILDREN? Tonight on Fox News we uncover a deadly secret behind dihydrogen monoxide poisoning. A silent killer LURKING IN YOUR CHILD'S INFLATABLE SPONGEBOB WADING POOL." Did you see last night's program on how beard butter gives you throat cancer? Scary business. I stopped buttering my beard and switched to Crisco. My therapist couldn't be happier. He's doubled my electroshock dosage!

that ballou story was on fox 5 news last night, and they showed all of these pictures of the school, talked about it's proximity to ballou, and hyped it to the point where i was waiting for the payoff— then they said it had nothing to do with ballou. point is, the news orgs in this city know they can say ballou and it'll scare the bejeesus out of the white folk in NW.

So, let's see. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of three murders out of a total of seven. Which leaves...uh...one, hold on...[takes off pants]...FOUR murders not accounted for. See if the cops were smart, they'd pin the other four on this guy, and all those cold cases they have on the books, as well as the Mckinley assassination. Or they could just pull a Ronnie White and have the guy mysteriously strangle himself while in police custody and then hide the rope. There, every open case is now closed. Notice I said "if" they were smart.
