Go Home Already: Two of a Kind

"Calvo has said sheriff's deputies entered without knocking and began shooting immediately, killing 7-year old Payton first and then shooting 4-year old Chase as he ran to another room."
Jesus christ. The dog was running away. A real threat, obviously.

Not only were the dogs running away, they were Labradors. Yes, vicious, angry black Labs. What were the officers afraid of, being licked to death?

Yes, but he was running away in a threatening manner. How do you know he wasn't going for his gun? You can't be too careful with black labs. As for the first one, he was probably holding a wallet that looked like a gun.

Why would you call a gastropub in Petworth "Commonwealth"? Was it supposed to open in Virginia or something?

I heard the 'running away' dog was flashing some gang signs and going for backup.

That comment tread on Petworth "Commonwealth" is both sad, pathetic and hilarious all wrapped up in a British pot pie....jeesh.

@somegirl: the only time I've been bitten badly by a dog (on the stomach) was by a black labrador.
Granted, the lab was owned by my insane neighbors that were training it as an attack dog and they'd asked me to feed it while they were away on vacation. Dog did NOT get fed.
Maybe the cops were concerned that Calvo had been training his labs to attack?

@connie:
Or maybe the cops were riding a Napoleon-complex fueled adrenaline rush as they broke down a door without a proper warrant and opened fire on a dog who was running away. I mean, if the dog actually *had* harmed an officer, it just would have strangled itself while in the county lockup, so this way the PG cops saved some time.

I wonder how many people would have problems with this story if you replaced the two black labs with two black teenagers? Because as it is, this reads like the dog version of those inner city drug dealer stories, where nobody on the jury believes the police, and Big Mama complains that the kennels of DC are filled with innocent young black labs put there by "the man."
Of course, that forces the question, "Why is the Mayor of Berwyn Heights keeping two black teenagers in kennels?" But maybe that's just how he rolls. I don't know his life.

PG po-po are soooooo going to get sued for that botched home invasion. And the copper who signed the affidavit saying the warrant was served on Calvo (it was not), should be looking at getting a lawyer who is good with perjury charges. If I were the PG sheriff who signed off on this, I'd be updating my resume right about now.

Am I the only one who finds the word "gastropub" less than appetizing?
Sounds like a place you go for endoscopy!

Can anyone confirm that the owners of Ceiba and Tonic are opening a gastropub named Colonic? I heard it'll be located next to Jimmy's Pump Room and Speculum in the endoscopy district.

My guess is that it probably wouldn't have been as big a deal. Didn't Michael Vick get several years in the pokey for a variation on this theme?

Now I've got "Fear of a Black Lab" running through my head.
