I actually tried to do this over the weekend, at a couple of stops. The P Street Whole Foods flat out refused, they said it was for a more restrictive set of dates. The Georgetown WF said the recall only really applied to one store in Massachusetts, but that they'd honor the refund if I had the beef (I didn't). I was armed with the press release by this time, and insisted, and they gave me my refund, mostly to make me go away.

They also didn't seem to have seen the WF press release or be aware of its instructions (dispose of product, present receipt or packaging for refund).

Luckily for me, they were helpless before my yuppie super-powers of Whining, Showing the Press Release, and Passive-aggressive Polite Persistence.

E. coli aside it’s the complacency in the cow world that makes me sick. We’ve been eating beef for thousands of years and what have they done about it? Nothing.

Now, now, no wishing potentially fatal infections on people just because they're yuppies.

Pointing and laughing at sunburns in the shape of a popped collar is acceptable.

Yeah, but the E. coli was organic, free-range, cruelty-free, and locally-grown. You're paying a premium for quality contamination and violent explosive diarrhea.
