Actually, they would take exception right away, because the test used a CD. In audiophile unicorn land, CDs are crap.

You can't win an argument with a lunatic audiophile. You can only shut them up for a while. For instance, it took about 2 or 3 hours on that Consumerist thread before:I have my expensive speakers, [etc].. I am going to use coat hangers to wire this stuff?

Not for nothing, I think I'll stick with monoprice. No Monster, but monoprice isn't expensive and fits the actual jacks very nicely.andshort answer: cables and pretty much everything else DO make a definite difference in your stereo system. if you enjoy music then do yourself a favor and read on....etc, etc.. as you go farther down in the comments, the lunatics get more vocal.

"99.9% of people won't be able to tell the difference, anyway."

Actually, 100% of people won't be able to tell the difference. However about 1-2% will claim they can tell your power cord isn't gold plated...

@ Hillrat:

If you're referring to his views and the way he expresses them as sanctimonious, I can understand to a point. I only met Ian once and he seemed nice enough to me.

Most of the Dischord catalog has been available for download from eMusic for some time now, for less dough, and one track at a time. And while it's not 320kbps, the files are still pretty high quality at 160-320 VBR encoding, and 99.9% of people won't be able to tell the difference, anyway.

@demon - Ian made some good music, but strikes me as being more than a bit sanctimonious.

Also, the .mp3 tracks from Dischord Records that are available at eMusic are 100% DRM free.
