Photo of the Day: August 25, 2008

It was a good weekend to enjoy summer's last gasps of blue skies outside of the city - to wit: Flickr user yospyn took this stunning shot while breaking gravity's oppression high above Shenandoah National Park's Skyline Drive, Mini Cooper and a paper crane in tow.

German engineering or not, they don't make cars like they used to. I bet there are some nice dents on the front of the roof now.

That is an incredible shot. Except for the Mini, the hipster and the oversized origami. Other than that, it's beautiful.

Reminds me of that line, "There's only two things wrong with this movie. The dialog and the acting."

That is the worst picture I've ever seen. Take it down, take it down!!

As a BMW ad, it's actually pretty good. You've got the product, you've got the consumer, you've got them in a pretty background doing something obscure but hip. Reminds me of that Rolls Royce ad with the bikini-clad model writhing in ecstasy on the hood, using her Louis Vuitton purse as an impromptu Wondrous Vulva Puppet.
But as a Photo of the Day it just pisses me off.

When the internet tubes finally get backed up and the wasted bandwidth revolution begins to rage, this shot is going to be the first with its back against the wall.

I think this picture truly captures the zeitgeist of the age we live in. The sublime reference to for the postmodern man to escape his environs has not been better captured, standing on the car, whilst yearning to free oneself via the transubstantiation of the paper crane highlights the yearning we all carry to escape from our daily drudgery.
Good Job on picture!
PS. A Mini Cooper while now owned by bmw is British not German Engineering
