Stinky, sweaty, shirtless bodies flying at you from all around. Well the band's name is Rancid. The good old boys from Los Angles played to a sold out crowed last night at the 9:30 club. As I was thoroughly enjoying being squished like a bug the band played through a set that could have been a greatest hits compilation, taking the great energy from the crowed and giving it right back. As I left the venue soaked from head to toe with sweat, I did think to myself, did Tim just play that entire set in a trench coat in August?

Woah, since when did Rancid relocate from the East Bay?
I saw from some youtube's that they were incorporating Op Ivy songs into the repetoire recently; did they do that last night?
They all live in LA now, well don't know about the drummer but I would assume.
I saw them in LA at the Echo and they did like 4 Op Ivy songs, last night they only played Knowledge.
RE: trenchcoat -- Those boys are from California. To them, last night in D.C. was bitter cold. And the drugs, too.
Holy Hell! That show was awesome.
Despite clearly having aged a bit since I first got into them in the mid-90's, they rocked like an avalanche of motherfuckers. It was great trying to figure out what movies were playing behind them on the big screen too.
They clearly really like Ray Harryhausen and George Romero.
On a down note, I'm just a couple months shy of 30, and I felt old as hell last night. Good to see the kids making it out for some real music, but daaaayumn. Do late 20 and 30-somethings not represent anymore?

Hey I'm 28!
Reid:
They played Knowledge

I was up front representing 35. And yeah, I definitely felt like The Old Guy. Damn kids better stay off my lawn.
Definitely noticed the Romero flicks...looks like they were Serge Leone fans too.
I'd have been there representing the 38 y.o. demographic had it not sold out before I even heard that they were coming.
I saw Bad Religion at Warped a year or two back. I spent their entire set (under the mid-day summer sun, no less!) in the pit with all the youngsters. I held my own, tho. And it only took me an hour to recover after the show before I could crawl back to my Buick and drive back to the retirement home.
I totally forgot to mention the Sergio Leone flicks.
Good to know I wasn't totally alone in the well after college demographic. I'm by no means in the grey beard set, so it's weird when I'm the old guy at the show.
