>> Civilian Art Projects opens Quart Bag, an exhibit featuring only work that's inside 32 ounce plastic bags from 100 community artists. The free reception is 7 to 9 p.m. Then head to Comet Ping Pong, which will have beer and pizza specials, while The Apes, Fiasco, and Double Dagger will be providing the music for the afterparty starting at 10 p.m. $10.

>> Gifted jazz chanteuse Danielle Eva spent the past several years paying her dues locally, but is now trying to make her way in the Big Apple. She will be at Twins Jazz this Friday and Saturday, where she will be playing with an outstanding rhythm section comprised of pianist Benito Gonzalez, drummer Nasar Abadey, and bassist Eric Wheeler. 9 and 11 p.m. sets. $15.

>> The DC Comedy Fest continues through the weekend. Your best bet is probably former Daily Show writer Lizz Winstead at the Arlington Cinema 'N' Drafthouse tonight at 7:30 p.m. $22, also Saturday, click here for tickets.

SATURDAY:

>> The Montgomery County Fair, now with zero trans fat, began Friday night, but kicks off in full today. General admission tickets are $8, and add $20 for an all-day wristband that gets you unlimited rides. Noon to midnight through Aug. 16.

>> The Virgin Mobile Festival kicks off with Chuck Berry, Wilco, Cat Power, Bloc Party, Foo Fighters, the Offspring, Lupe Fiasco, Underworld, and many others at the Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore. >> DCAC hosts a benefit concert for the Sunbeam Foundation, which works to find cures for rare and underfunded childhood bone cancers. Featured bands include Anchorage, My Friend Autumn, and the City Veins. $20/ $16 DCAC Members, 7:30 p.m.

>> DC9's Transatlantic Dance Party has morphed into something called Feedback, and will feature New York DJ Nick Catchdubs and Alexandria's own Matt Nordstrom. $8, 9 p.m.

SUNDAY:

>> It's the second day of the Virgin Mobile Festival, featuring Bob Dylan, Kayne West, Lil' Wayne, Iggy and the Stooges, Andrew Bird and reformed D.C. legends Shudder to Think. $97.50 for a one day pass, $175 for both days, 12 p.m.

>> Don't miss our film picks of the week, including a free screening of Stephen Chow's cult comedy Shaolin Soccer at 2 p.m. at the Freer Gallery's Meyer Auditorium.

>> Windsor, Ontario's Tamia has been impressing listeners since the days when she was under Quincy Jones' tutelage in the early 1990s. Now with several hit releases under her belt, she'll be coming to the Lincoln Theatre to record material for a live album. $50.00-$65.50, 8 p.m.

>> The Black Cat hosts a free screening of local filmmaker Jason Hamacher's film, Old Soul, which chronicles his musical journey through Syria. Backstage, free, 9 p.m.
