From this vantage point, it's difficult to tell if the man depicted is crossing the street or climbing up a monument's staircase; the movement of the man's flowing slacks contrasts wonderfully with the stringent, unforgiving black and white lines; and the photograph's subject matter - art brought to everyday action - inspires us to look at such routine movements in a new aesthetic light. What a great optical illusion! Shots like this remind me black and white is just another option, not an anachronism. Some photos just work better in grayscale.
