Yet Another Local Band Calls it Quits

TelographLike some poorly constructed M. Night Shyamalan film, something must be in the air killing off our favorite D.C. bands. The latest casualty is Telograph (***), who we've reviewed several times in the past. The band, which will be playing their farewell show at the 9:30 Club this Friday, wrote the following on their MySpace blog:

Dear Friends,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce this: Telograph has come to an end. We want to thank everyone for their support over the years - we will never forget the experiences we've had and the people we have met along the way. Many thanks to the Washington, D.C. music scene which has nurtured and inspired us without fail, all the local bands with whom it has been an honor to share the stage, and all the fans and non-fans who for some reason kept showing up to see us perform. We appreciate all of you.

But alas, times change and people change, and we are moving on to fulfill our destinies.

If you get the chance, go see them one last time. They'll be playing with No Second Troy, Exit Clov and The Reserves. $15. 8 p.m.

Telograph's farewell comes shortly after another DCist favorite, Georgie James, posted a notice on their Web site saying the band was breaking up. In other local band change-up news, multi-instrumentalists Le Loup had two members leave in June, when keyboard and French Horn player Nicole Keenan left to focus on her work with social justice groups, and guitarist May Tabol took a break to focus on her solo career. The band posted on their blog and Myspace that the two would be missed. Bassist Dan Ryan told us today that the band was rejoined by Christian Ervin and also has a new manager/sound man.

Great picture. Dude's totally about to let out a monster fart. He couldn't be more blatant about it if he was lifting a buttcheek.

oh that sucks! definitely one of my favorite local bands. :(

no ink for Adam West calling it quits?

The Happening? What I want to know is: how could you pick just one!

ME, fire torpedo 2!

I would probably (maybe) care about all of these bands breaking up if I actually had heard of any of them.

"no ink for Adam West calling it quits?"
The threat of a lawsuit from the real Adam West will do that.
