My family lived in Florida for many years, so I've got the hurricane prep down to an art form: beer, wine, vodka, Hostess fruit pies, sammiches, dvds (in case the power stays on), paperbacks and magazines (in case it doesn't.) Mom and Dad would be so proud of me.

What you really need is ICE and lots off it. During Isabel my power was out for 3 days, and the only thing that saved my food is that I made tons of ice a few days ahead of time. Ohh Good luck Starbucks in Old Town! I hear Sunday morning they are serving a special Potomac Flavored Junk Punch. Maybe!

It is not going to be alright. If DC would just build a dome over itself, we wouldn't have this problem. I wouldn't have to sit here and wonder if I do need to pick up the last case of Tab and last existing roll cheapo woodchip toilet paper from CVS before figuring out how to construct a raft of the bodies that will be floating by.
