Are You Ready for More Pants?

2008_0911_pants.jpgThat's right, kiddos. International superstar and former administrative law judge Roy Pearson is back! Last night WJLA reported that the infamous $54 million missing pants lawsuit has actually been granted an appeals hearing by a three-judge appellate court panel. Faithful readers must realize what a thrill it was for DCist to once again set our Google image search function to "pants" upon hearing the news.

It's been more than a year since we last heard from Pearson, and more than two years since his civil complaint and trial against the Chung family attracted an inordinate amount of media attention for being the dumbest thing on any court docket anywhere that year. For a refresher, feel free to scroll through our extensive archives on the subject. But the bottom line is that Judge Pearson accused the Chungs, former owners of Custom Cleaners, of losing his precious, precious pants. He sued them for $67 million, later reduced the amount $54 million, and proceeded to lose his reputation, the case and then finally, his judgeship.

So what are the odds this three-judge appellate court panel could agree to overturn the lower court ruling and order a new trial? Stranger things have happened, but we'll just have to wait until next month to find out. Pearson's $1 million wrongful termination suit against the city is still pending, however.

Yes!!!! Not without my Pants: the Musical may happen still. But this may require a fourth act.

Only in Amerierrr...D.C.

Hopefully your play ends in a mental ward.

can this guy just accidentally step in front of marion barry's car?

Christ, are the Chungs still even in the U.S.? I thought they were so ruined by this case they went back to Korea?

Contributions to the "Send Roy Pearson to Junkpunchers and Lock Him in the Walk-in Freezer Fund" are being accepted via Paypal. Put me down for $54 million.

Someone's nose has been up someone's butt sniffing their pants to come to this decision.

This case needs to disappear, like the pants did.

So he sued for $54 million for a pair of missing pants, but only $1 million for wrongful termination? At least he has his priorities straight.

does anyone know what appellate court this will be heard in?

is it the Court of Federal Claims?

Taxation with Pants Representation

Can someone countersue him for being a drain on taxpayer dollars?

does anyone know what appellate court this will be heard in?

Should be the D.C. Court of Appeals, the "state" court. His case against the Chungs was in D.C. Superior Court.

Huzzah! Suit up, kids: DC's favorite excuse for stitching together bad pants puns is back.

Greatest. Country/state/city/fiefdom. Ever.

Yep that's right, it's the D.C. Court of Appeals.

Forget Gallerie Place. Judiciary Square needs a marquee for this one ......"Judge Roy Pearson and the Cronys are back for one show!".....

"Hi, I'm Roy Pearson. You may remember me from such travesties as 'The Verdict Was Mailfraud" and 'Tinker, Taylor, Plaintiff, A**hole.'"

Why Barry? Doesn't Novak still have a license?

I have a theory about this. The man is incredibly vain about his legs. J-Lo level of vanity. Maybe he was a male leg model before law school.

Perhaps if the Appeals court did overturn the decision - that would justify his lawsuit against wrongful termination.

He is probably hoping a favorable verdict would aid him in getting his job back or at least compensation

I really want Wesley Snipes to play Roy Pearson in Blade III: Gimme Back My Goddamned Pants. I mean, he's gotta be a vampire. Nothing can stop him. Not even the Chung's extra-garlickey kimchi.

Um... Doesn't he still owe the Chungs for there legal fee from the first time? So, if he has funding to go after an a appeal, shouldn't he also have funds to cough over? Just sayin...

Monkey, there's already a Blade III, so that would have to be Blade IV.
