Dupont Circle Metro Station's Escalators All Down

AlertDC says that every single escalator at Dupont Circle Metro's Q Street entrance is currently out of service. The station is still open, unlike when it was closed during a power outage in June; all of the escalators were down then too, and WMATA decided that since people were having such a hard time getting into and out of the station, they would temporarily close it until the power came back on. If you can't handle hoofing it up the station's long elevators today, we recommend using the south entrance on the other side of Dupont Circle. UPDATE: The escalators are back in operation.

hoofing it up that elevator would be hard.
like climbing the rope in gym class hard.

I just came out the north end and they're back up.

Spelunking in Dupont!

Right. Good luck with that. Dupont isn't as gay as it used to be.

gay isn't as dupont as it used to be either.

Damn right. Nobody follows hankie codes anymore. It's all, "Where's the poppers?" Where's the romance, I want to know?

I wanna climb up the elevator shaft, too! I'm heading there now.

Just to chime in, the reason they closed the station when the power was out is because there were absolutely no options other than walking up that gigantic escalator staircase in the heat. Today you had a whole other entrance with working escalators plus the elevators.

So it's better being forced to exit at a different metro station and having to walk a mile in the heat to get back to your apartment? That makes no sense.

Besides, isn't the whole point of an escalator that it turns into a perfectly functional staircase when the power is out?
