Imgoph it's not the pulling of the pin that sets a grenade off. It's the handle opening up. And I'd say from my long military experience of watching war movies that the normal length of time is like 5-10 seconds. Or just long enough to get a witty line off, whichever is shorter.

pineapple is slang for grenade .. i think. And i am very thankful that the grenade was found this morning before the Kids Stoddert Soccer league practices had started this afternoon. There are 100's of kids that practice at that complex each Wednesday afternoon!
