Replacement why.i.hate.dc Blogger Booted
The former writer behind popular local blog why.i.hate.dc posted a message to readers last night announcing that he's taken away the editorial keys to the web site from his replacement. Having recently relocated to Columbus, Ohio, "Rusty" had put up a post a few months back asking for submissions for a potential successor. A new blogger who went by the moniker "Liz" briefly took over, but her tenure was rocky, with many regular commenters expressing their disappointment with the change in tone. "Rusty" writes that while he liked the writing offered by "Liz", her inability to update regularly forced him to remove her: "... it's October 1st and her last post was September 13th. I had to do this." He says he's once again looking for someone to take the reins of the web site.

I didn't so much mind Liz's tone..but I thought her writing was rambling and often incoherent (not quite as bad as OffSeventh...but nearly)

The problem is the whole idea that why.i.hate.dc is some kind of coherent "brand" to begin with. It's just a one-voice local rant site with an especially combative crowd of commenters, and it was ridiculous to think that giving it to another person wouldn't change the tone or the content of the posts at all. Given the hysterical, downright comically hostile responses "Liz" received to nearly all of her posts starting on day one, I'm sort of surprised she lasted as long as she did.
If Rusty actually feels some kind of ownership over the site, he should just face reality and shutter the thing for good.

Uhhh....why is it that we care about this crap again? 'Cause I forget.

i agree. no one cares. he should just write why i still hate dc from afar if he cares so much about the site.

I actually didn't read why.i.hate.dc much after the blogger prior to Rusty (the original blogger?) left. Which kind of goes back to Nate's point - the blog really depends on the indivdual writer, and whether you like his or her style. Probably alot of people who liked the first guy didn't particularly enjoy Rusty's posts, and all the people who'd been reading Rusty's posts weren't overjoyed with Liz. She may or may not have developed her own following after awhile, but at the same time that wasn't going to happen if she never posted.

I wasn't a huge fan of Liz and I think why i hate dc is dead, sorry Rusty. I reccomend www.2birds1blog.com. It's filled the void in my heart that why i hate dc left.
