Torontoist featured a set of photos of Nuit Blanche, the one night each year when the streets and public and private spaces of Toronto are transformed into one huge contemporary art gallery, Rickrolls, zombies, mascots, unhappy patrons all included.
Seattlest spotted man's best friend stumping for Obama, talked to Sarah Vowell about the Puritans next door, and then disappeared under a tidal wave of indie-rock plaid.

Londonist celebrated National Poetry Day with numerous commuting-themed haikus.
LAist visited artist Shepard Fairey's latest window installation.
SFist indulged in such political debating as clean energy vs. PG&E, ads for proposition 8 (the same-sex marriage ban), a disgraced city supervisor pleading guilty to extortion, and the death of John McCain.

Chicagoist also points out that the planetarium projector Obama requested was not funded, and that planetarium projectors in New York and Los Angeles were.

While McCain continues to paint Obama as an un-American earmarker, he ignores the fact that his own running mate is the Queen of Pork whose husband has dubious loyalty to the US. That bastion of lefty-liberal thought, the Cato Institute has this to say:

At best, Palin has been a convert on earmarks (and perhaps not a full convert). As governor of Alaska, she has requested 31 earmarks worth $197.8 million for next year, according to indicted Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens’ website, the Los Angeles Times reported. As mayor of Wasilla, Palin regularly traveled to Washington to request earmarks. The city obtained funding for several projects, including a bus depot ($600,000) and a water and sewer project ($1.5 million), according to Taxpayers for Common Sense.
