Artist Shepard Fairey Spotted in Logan Circle

Shepard Fairey was out in Logan Circle today touching up a mural he put up overnight on the alley wall next to Logan Hardware on P Street NW, between 14th and 15th. Fairey is most well-known for his "André the Giant Has a Posse" stickers, which morphed into the ubiquitous Obey Giant street art project, and more recently for his graphic work depicting Barack Obama.

The mural he's put up in the alley is a version of a piece called Duality of Humanity, which is included in his upcoming show with Al Farrow, Regime Change Starts at Home, at Irvine Contemporary. The opening reception for the show is this Saturday, October 18, from 6-9 p.m., with an Artists’ Dialogue with Fairey and Farrow scheduled at the Corcoran Gallery of Art on Friday at 7 p.m.

heh, saw this going up last night whilst walking past around 8:45 or so.

i just thought it was some movie posters or some other ad going up.

at that point, it was just the repeating red stuff in the background, there was no big head there yet.

i saw them around 5pm as i was leaving leaving whole foods. seems pointless.

Saw another mural at 7th and O on a run today depicting Barack Obama with the word "VOTE" underneath. It's very much his style, but obviously can't prove he's the one who put it up. Looks brand new though, and with him in town, I'm inclined to think its his.

That is too funny. I saw a guy working on this a few days ago, and had no clue he was such a big deal. I was impressed by the quality of the artwork, so I should have known he was a big name.

I'm sorry the "point" of art is lost on you.
