THURSDAY:
>> The AFI Silver is screening both Rosemary’s Baby (7 p.m.) and Night of the Living Dead (9:45 p.m.). Get in the Halloween spirit with two of the greatest horror genre films of all time.
>> The Velvet Lounge's Bee's Knees All Hallows Eve Party will feature a costume contest and performances by Little Teeth, Sleeping in the Aviary and a bunch of DJs. $3 cover, $8 to see the bands, 9 p.m.
>> Local author Eric Nuzum is celebrating the release of the paperback version of The Dead Travel Fast: Stalking Vampires from Nosferatu to Count Chocula, his compendium of all things vampire, with what he tells DCist will be "one of the more unusual book readings that Barnes and Noble has hosted." >> Cirque du Soleil opens Kooza today at National Harbor. Tickets are $55 to $125. 8 p.m., performances run until December 14.
>> Tokyo's Polysics sport neon orange jumpsuits and anime-style haircuts, and play spastic, new-wave-influenced synth-punk. They're playing with Jaguar Love (ex-Blood Brothers/Pretty Girls Make Graves) and Black Gold at the Black Cat's backstage, $12, 9 p.m.

FRIDAY:
>> It's Halloween! Consult our Halloween Picks for a few last minute ideas of where to go out. But really, we hope that after you get all dressed up, you have an awesome house party to go to, because Friday evening traffic + Halloween is going to = kind of a mess out there.

>> Rhys Darby of Flight of the Concords is doing an early seated music/comedy show at 9:30 Club. $25, 6 p.m.
>> West Coast emcee Murs is in town, joined at the Rock and Roll Hotel by Ivy League-educated crew Kidz In The Hall, Big Pooh of Little Brother fame, and Isaiah. $14, 8:30 p.m.
>> Brooklyn's Bishop Allen returns to the Black Cat, with Drink Up Buttercup and Electric Owls. $13, 9 p.m.
>> Washington National Opera opens Donizetti's Lucrezia Borgia tonight at 7 p.m., marking the company debut of soprano Renée Fleming. Performances continue through November 17, some with Sondra Radvanovsky instead of Fleming.
