First Union Station, now the John A. Wilson Building. The home of D.C.'s city government is celebrating its centennial tomorrow, and a new exhibit inside the building will open to the public starting at 9:45 a.m.

The exhibit, "People, Politics and Progress", incorporates photographs, manuscripts, works of art and oral histories that represent the experiences of D.C. residents. On the first floor you'll find displays about people who have been leaders in the District, and the rest of the exhibit is up on the fifth floor, which focuses on the history of Home Rule.

There will also be a full line-up of events at the building all day, including a drumline performance at 9:45 a.m., tours of the building starting at 10 a.m., and a q&a session with local media personalities Kojo Nnamdi and Mark Plotkin at 5 p.m. Nnamdi and Plotkin will share some fun stories about events that took place at the Wilson Building during their time covering local politics.

One last item of note to entice you down to city hall tomorrow: all members of the D.C. Council are keeping their doors open to constituents all day, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. If you've always meant to go down and visit your Ward representative, tomorrow might be a good day for it.

Make sure to visit the shadow delegation's offices in the sub-basement.

I'll be there to re-enact the 1977 Hanfi Muslim Siege with Balinese shadow puppets and a bootleg copy of "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" which is an insult to Islam as well as anyone with half a brain.

i'm so there. tomorrow is going to be a slow day around here anyway...

To celebrate the 80s: A crack party in the Mayor's suite.

Please, bring your own crack. The city is now experiencing serious budget shortfalls.

I'm celebrating 5 years of 'not exposing myself to a minor' with a quiet get together at home. Bagel Bites will be served. The history of Home Rule will be presented through interpretive dance.

Boondoggle, "getting blitzed on Miller Lite and passing out onto a pile of dirty tube socks" doesn't count as an interpretive dance. If you really want to do an interpretive dance on the history of Home Rule, I recommend getting blitzed on blueberry-almond martinis and passing out onto a shelf full of monkey peelers.

So you mean the Council's doors aren't open to their constituents on any other day?

just got back from the wilson building. they are giving away free tote bags with wilson building goodies in them.

met muriel bowser—she was very friendly. and a crazy(ish) guy in mendelson's office said "enjoy the buildling while you can, they're going to tear it down soon"
