DCist's November Theater Preview

nixon.jpgArea companies this November have some recent Broadway transplants, Bard offerings and brand new takes on children's classics to offer this month.

Studio Theater stages Grey Gardens, the cult documentary turned musical about two batty old women who are also Jackie Kennedy's Cousins (Nov. 12).

Got post-election Presidential fever? Check out Kennedy Center's touring production of Frost/Nixon (Nov 11).

In the lesser-staged Shakespeare department, Washington Shakespeare Company performs All's Well That Ends Well (Nov. 6).

Also this month

  • Woolly Mammoth's comedy Boom! is big-bang themed (Nov. 3).
  • Get into the Christmas spirit early with Quotidian Theater's Dublin Carol (Nov. 14).
  • Molotov Theater presents its production of Closet Land (Nov. 15).
  • If you won't grow up, better head to Olney and catch Peter Pan (Nov. 19).
  • The talented Ms. Ripley (Alice, that is) stars in Arena's Next To Normal (Nov. 21).
  • American Century stages the nostalgic classic Life With Father (Nov. 25).
  • Round House heads to Wonderland with its production of Alice (Nov. 26).
  • Keegan stages the classic, yet timely Glengarry Glen Ross (Nov. 28).
  • Fringe festival favorite Trixie Tickles returns for a weekend performance at Round House (Nov. 28).

Still playing
Next weekend marks the end for Constellation Theater's Temptation, Synetic's pro-peace Host And Guest, MetroStage's Pearl Bailey By Request and Rep Stage's Intelligence; on the Nov. 15 weekend, Journeymen's As America As, Folger's impressive Henry IV and Signature's bloody The Lieutenant of Inishmore close; the next weekend is the final for dog and pony's Punch, Spooky Action's Beckett Duo and The Producers at Toby's Dinner Theater; you have until the end of the month to catch the irresistible Altar Boyz, the irreverent President Harding Is A Rock Star and the provocative Honey Brown Eyes.
