i think my broccoli is sort of "off-topic" and irrelevant now. I was bummed out to read in the Post yesterday a quote from some woman who referred to Obama as "colored." 21st century, people!!

i'm so curious about my hometown's paper today...the birmingham news. from what i hear, some folks are devastated in a bad way. which disappoints, but doesn't surprise me. totally off-topic, but realidealist, your misanthropic broccoli icon still makes me laugh.

Love how the New York Daily News cover is up there on the Newseum site (i.e., humongous collection) and has nothing to do with Obama winning the election. "Bloomy Wields Ax"? Huh? And in Newcastle, UK, they're talking about floaties. I guess that is newsworthy in the UK. Or maybe it's their equivalent to The Onion.

Found a WaPo box with THREE copies in it this morning at 9:30am, at the corner of 17th & T - jackpot! Shoulda picked them all up and sold them off...but it's a friendly, sharing day today.

I have WaPo home delivery 7 days a week, and it was missing both today and yesterday when I left for work at 6:15. Either these thieves are waking up really early, or my carrier is hoping I won't notice that he's late. I reported today's paper as missing, and they said I would get a new one. Think it will still be there when I get home at 6:30? And just so there's no misunderstanding, that's 6:15 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.. I don't work only 15 minutes a day.

WaPo's front page doesn't really have a momento feel to it. I get home delivery, but hadn't even considered keeping it until I heard people were scrounging around for copies.

at 9:15 AM I couldn't find anything other than a Washington Times (and yesterday's Politico) from any of the vending machines downtown. By noon, Borders had a sign on their door saying they had NO US papers at all, there were no papers form today- not even the Washington Times were left, and even the Washington Post HQ on 15th Street was completely sold out (until 4:30 PM today when they get in their run of "special edition" papers for today). Oh, and the Exxon at 23rd and M wanted $30 for their last copy of today's WaPo. Madness, so much for the death of newspapers....
