READING: William Ayers is in town tonight, on the heels of having unwittingly become one of the most controversial rallying points of this year's presidential election. He was originally scheduled to appear at Busboys and Poets on 14th Street, but the event has been moved to All Souls Church at 1500 Harvard Street NW, which can handle a larger crowd. It stands to reason Ayers might also be hoping the audience will be better behaved inside a place of worship. Ayers will sign and discuss his two books, City Kids, City Schools: More Reports from the Front Row and City Kids, City Teachers: Reports from the Front Row. Free, 6:30 p.m.

MUSIC: Fans of the UK's Mojave 3 (or its precursor, Slowdive) will want to head down to Jammin' Java tonight to catch a show from lead singer Neil Halstead, who is touring in support of his latest solo effort, Oh! Mighty Engine. Gregory and the Hawk open. 8 p.m., $12.

ICE SKATING: The National Gallery's ice skating rink opened for the season over the weekend, but the weird weather may have kept many of you away. Now that it's finally cold, grab your favorite skating partner and head down for a weeknight session. Open until 9 p.m., two-hour passes cost $7 for adults.

MUSIC: Who would have thought a superhero-themed ska band would still be out touring 15 years later? The Aquabats are back at the Black Cat tonight, with Suburban Legends and Karmella's Game. 8 p.m., $18.

MOVIE: Don't miss our review of Momma's Man, the surprisingly affecting new film from director Azazel Jacob about a man who refuses to return home to his wife and baby after a visit to his parents' house. It's playing exclusively at the Avalon Theatre for a limited time. 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.
