Md. Gov. Martin O'Malley was also a big winner last night, as Marylanders voted overwhelmingly to legalize slot machine gambling in the state. O'Malley will now move quickly to install up to 15,000 slot machines at five locations around the state: Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Cecil, Worcester and Allegany counties. The success of the ballot measure also means that we finally get to stop reading sanctimonious articles about how gambling is sooooo bad. Let us all play slots and never speak about them ever again!

And by "slot machine" they mean "your momma."
I still don't see what the big deal is. It's not like there's much else to do in Worcester County anyway, except guzzle their damn sauce in tough-guy drinking contests. Whoever vomits first loses. Seems to me slots is much less painful and stinky way to spend your time in Worcester County while you're waiting around to die.
the people of maryland are going to whinge and bitch when they find that this isn't the magic fairy dust that it was sold to them as, and it doesn't single-handedly fix their economy. maybe!
I will travel to Maryland via the subway and gamble away my humble savings. Savings which I will pass on to the lil chirrin of Maryland who will profit from my gambling addiction. Oh Maryland, here I come!
Eventually we'll have slots everywhere. Why not install a slot machine in every home? We'll just pump our loose change into it, the government will take half of it, we'll get to "win" every so often. What entertainment--fun for the whole family.
"It's not fair that our stupid people have to travel all the way to West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Delaware to throw away their money! We need to have slots here in Maryland so that their stupidity benefits our state rather than our neighbors.
Slot machines on the monorail!
