High Speed Chase Ends in Tysons Corner

NBC4/WRC has video of a suspect leading police on a high speed chase from Maryland into Virginia while driving a tractor-trailer. The semi eventually crashed near Tysons Corner, ending the chase, which began in Germantown, Md., without injuries. The driver, a suspect from Baltimore who was wanted on assault charges, has been identified as Vernon Edward Jones. Jones is now in the custody of Virginia State Police.

Anyone who has spent time in Los Angeles knows that with this chase captured on the local TV news, we could very well be in store for a spate of a half-dozen or so more high speed chases over the next few weeks!

single most unpleasant place on earth? http://dcist.com/2008/10/01/is_tysons_corner_the_single_most_un.php

pshaw. what with this and the shooting not too long ago, tysons is making it's bid for most exciting place on earth. i nominate it for michael bay's next film subject.

What idiot would try to escape the cops a) in a truck and b) in Tyson's Corner?

High speed? psha. looked pretty slow to me.

The one thing I really miss about LA is the high speed chase. Nothing like comeing home from school, turring on the TV and there is and idiot going 85 down the 101. Good times!

Also, love the Holy F_ck at the 4:30 spot.

why didn't they just shoot at the tires?

he's fleeing assault charges? that's it? now he'll probably face multiple federal offenses eluding police over state lines...lovely.

Only a Murrylander would have the sense to try to outrun the cops by heading in the direction of Tyson's.

thanks for pointing that out, rj! wouldn't have noticed it otherwise...

Uhh...yeah. Not high speed.
And LOL @ the "Holy Fuck"!

They did shoot out his tires. He was driving on his rims for most of the way and leaving a nice trail of destroyed asphalt. We could see this happen out our windows and were all impressed at his ability to keep the truck under control without wheels.

so, lilybelle, is it true that you live in the "single most unpleasant place on earth?"

I wish I could get through Tysons Corner that quickly!

No, I just work there. As far as the 'worst place on earth' designation, I used to live in Atlanta and Tysons has nothing on that city.
