@IanBuckwalter

Indeed. FYE carries them, $20 I think. For $40 you can get a replica of the leg lamp from Christmas Story.

I think the 'Lust for Life' commercials are for Royal Caribbean rather than Carnival, but point well taken.

Christmas has always been a commercial plastic endevour. It was invented by Thomas Nast and Prince Albert to fight socialism in the wake of the First International. The original German lyrics to "O Tannenbaum" are a thinly veiled allegory of the struggle between imperialism, radical trade unionism, and phallocentric hegemony. And it worked! The only time you see commies are when the trustafarians come to throw street theater puppets at the World Bank.

Besides, in a world where they use Iggy Pop's "Lust for Life" to sell Carnival Cruises, I would expect nothing less.

I remember when Urban Outfitters was hawking the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree replicas pictured here a couple of years back. I don't think they carry it anymore, though Amazon does have a couple of alternate versions that don't look quite as...er...authentic as this one.

Nothing like manufacturing and commodifying an item that's supposed to symbolize a reaction against the commercialization and plasticization of Christmas.

Monkeyrotica, you're the only person I know who can take a wonderful season like Christmas and turn it into a cheap penis gag.

Of all the Monkeyroticas in the world, you're the Monkeyroticest.
