The Post updates with word that all the negative press from this morning's stories about the nine Muslim passengers who were booted off of an AirTran flight on Thursday has provoked an apology from the airline. The passengers were removed from a flight heading from National Airport to Orlando.
"We regret that the issue escalated to the heightened security level it did on New Year's Day, but we trust everyone understands that the security and the safety of our passengers is paramount and cannot be compromised," read a company statement. "We apologize to all of the passengers -- to the nine who had to undergo extensive interviews from the authorities and to the 95 who ultimately made the flight. Nobody on Flight 175 reached their destination on time on New Year's Day, and we regret it."AirTran has also agreed to provide free return airfare and refund the travelers the cost of their tickets on another carrier after AirTran refused to rebook them. The group, made up mostly of a couple of young Muslim professionals from Alexandria and their families, told the Post they still haven't decided if they'll accept the free tickets, since it would mean flying on AirTran again. Can't say we hardly blame them.

i would take the tickets, then, once in the air, act like a real dick. if you're never going to fly them again, least they can do is ban you from their airline. no big loss.
Why take the free tickets when they'll own the entire airline after the lawsuit?
Please, please, please let me get called for duty on that jury. The country needs to see AirTran get a billion-dollar bitch-slap over this. Maybe then airline employees will stop acting like they can punish people for "flying while Muslim."

That would cause the airplane to be diverted to the next available airport, fucking up travel plans for an entire airplane full of people.
hey, the travel plans of this family were fucked up once already. maybe we can teach other people how shitty it is to be treated like this just because your skin looks a certain way.

I'd have a lot more sympathy for the plight of the average Muslim in America if so many of them didn't think it was their right to treat gays and women like shit. Not just one day on an airplane - pretty much every day.
Not only that, but they think dogs are "unclean" because they eat their own feces, sniff eachothers butts, then lick your face. When will they stop hating America?
That "but" and subsequent nonapologetic, massaged BS came way too early in the statement for this to count as - or be billed as - an apology.
