Inaugural Parade Tickets On Sale at 1 p.m.

2009_0109_parade.jpg Tickets for the 56th Inaugural Parade go on sale to the public at 1 p.m. today for $25 each through Ticketmaster. There are only 5,000 such tickets for bleacher seats being made available to the public, so expect them to go in the blink of an eye. Each person is limited to four tickets per purchase.

The good news if you fail to snag reserved seats today is that you don't need tickets to see the parade. Standing room will be available along Pennsylvania Avenue on a first come, first serve basis, beginning at 7 a.m.. Ticket holders will have guaranteed spots, however, and only need be in their seats by 1 p.m. (though they're being encouraged to begin arriving through the security checkpoints at 8 a.m. to make sure they get through).

Also don't forget that you can "help" your middle or high school student submit an essay to win one of about 100 free spots for D.C. families in the bleachers

on $25 a piece? we're in a massive recession here, people. sell this shit at its true market value and get some return for the old coffers. these babies should be bid for on ebay for top dollar!

I've been to three of these, and there's always plenty of room on the parade route. Bleacher seats are for suckers, with wallets attached apparently.

Anyway, there's almost always protesters at innaugurals and they're pretty entertaining. Reagan had lots of anti-nuke anti-Contra protesters, Bush got lots of the same. And there are the choice nutjobs who want the president to stop eavesdropping on their private thoughts and why won't the government stop thwarting my PLAN FOR WORLD PEACE IN ALL CAPS through the use of meditation, colonic irrigation, and tapioca pudding? I wonder who will show up for Obama's? Because I don't think he ever did release his birth certificate or his major credit card numbers. What's he hiding?

what would lead anyone to believe that there will be "plenty of room" on the parade route >this

I dunno. Just my experience from three previous innaugurations, that's all. I'm not saying you can swing a dead cat or baby or anything. It's crowded, but I was still able to see Reagan/Bush/Clinton drive by. Sorry, but that's all I've got. That, and a huge penis.

What's the view of the actual inauguration like from the bleachers? Ticketmaster lists the location as Constitution and Pennsylvania, which could give a decent view of the business at the Capitol. This could be a (not-so) poor-man's inauguration ticket, I suppose.

I think if you are on the North side you might have a chance. On the south, I think you are SOL.

These are not tickets for the inauguration. These are tickets for the inaugural parade. The route is basically between the White House and the Capitol. Folks need to choose which one they're going to go to, because you can't do both.

If I'm able to snag any, they're going straight to Craigslist at $50.

If you got any, I'd pay $50 a pop (I need 4.) Help a nice little old lady out, won't you? I'll let you see what I have locked in my basement...

This might be cool to see:

Moon buggy to debut in inaugural parade
NASA will participate in President-elect Barack Obama's inaugural parade with the crew of the latest shuttle mission and a small pressurized rover that is the current design for a mission to the moon in about 12 years. It will be driven by astronaut Michael Gernhardt.

Unless the tickets are within a block or two of the White House, you're not going to see President Obama because the Secret service is not going to let him out of the tank until then.

Dang! Wonder if the Popemobile is available that week.

that was some bullsh*t. I refreshed a second before they were available, got to the request page, and got nothing.

Well that was quick. Got on at 1pm on the dot, sailed through...sold out.

Yikes... they must have gone FAST. No luck here.

apparently 2 browsers constantly refreshing the ticketmaster site and a well-timed phone call are not enough to snag these tickets.

come to think of it, this has never worked for me when trying to get hot tickets. for future reference, what am i not doing correctly?

allah smiled on me and i was actually able to snag some tix..

Got four tickets here. Seems online was your best bet - Ticketmaster lines were clogged up 15 minutes before the hour as it was. Section "GRAY-B" - is there a seating chart available? I wasn't planning on going but this makes it a bit more palatable of a prospect...

PSUMark, if you decide you don't want to go I'll buy them from you!
