Inauguration Day In Review: An Experience To Remember

>> "...I had a conversation with my hypothetical granddaughter, who wanted to know what it was like in D.C. the day that the first African-American president took the oath of office. Well, it wasn't bad, I told her, you know, I stayed in, had some coffee, sort of took a nap until 11...and that just didn't cut it." [ATTACKERMAN]

>> Oh geez, what a nightmare for a parent: about thirty children lost during the Inauguration are waiting to be reunited at two seperate police stations near the Mall. [AP]

>> For your evening travel: Federal Triangle station is back open as of 4 p.m., but Judiciary Square is closed for the evening. For the curious, as of 5 p.m., the day's ridership count stands at 873,788. [WMATA]

>> The National Museum of American History, the Smithsonian Castle and the Hirshhorn Museum all had to close today after reaching capacity early. [WTOP]

>> Some Metro stations dealt with the humongous lines with levity, just letting some people out without paying. [Get There]

>> City Paper's Jason Cherkis wasn't really feeling the post-Inaugural insanity. [City Desk]

>> "I'm pretty sure I saw Matthew Lesko walking down my street as I returned home. I mean, okay, it could have been someone else. But whoever it was, he was wearing a leather jacket emblazoned with question marks, pants with question marks on the back pocket, a question mark hat, and ludicrous shoes (which seem likely to have also involved punctuation symbols of one sort or another)." Matthew Lesko lives in the area (in Bethesda, I think), so it probably was him. I've seen a number of times in the past couple of years.

That Lesko guy tried to proposition me! Tried to pay me with "free" money I could get from the U.S. Government. I'm like, "Bi**h, do I look like an ATM? I don't take American Express. Dolla dolla bill, y'all."

Matthew Lesko came to GW to film one of his commercials on our campus, which I was roped into while trying to get lunch. He said it would be on his website. The last time I tried looking for his new commercial was 6 months later, and it has now been like 3 years, at least.

Is there anything that Cherkis writes about that he doesn't piss all over? I had a bicycle and was able to get from Capitol Hill to Georgetown without memorizing maps or too much of a hassle, but then again I don't get paid by the word to say how much everything in DC suuuucks. An old lady with a cane only enters into his story as an illustration of how much the big bad national guardsmen are sneering at the weak & vulnerable, the possibility of Cherkis himself helping the old lady doesn't seem to cross his mind.

I'm pretty sure Lesko lives in Bethesda, I've seen his scooter covered in question marks (although it could belong to the Riddler) locked up on Woodmont Ave.
