No Pants Metro Ride 2009

Last year's No Pants Metro Ride, the first time the long-running New York City event had been held in D.C., resulted in no arrests and several funny photos. From the looks of the DCist Flickr pool this morning, Saturday's repeat event went much the same way. Considering how cold and rainy the day ended up being, all we can think while looking at these images is, "Brrrrrr!"

um, that blonde's lower half is making my pants get a little tighter.

Well, I think you've just proven their point. Pants are the tools of the devil. Or, at least what's in the pants.

Don't you just love when noncomformists express their uniqueness by doing the same damn thing in unison? Reminds me of the time I ran for chair of the local anarchist collective.

And now, it's time to repeat the Non-conformists Oath . . .

I promise to be different!

I promise to be unique!

I promise not to repeat things other people say!

AAAaaannnnd I don't blame you.

Did this last year, and while it was cute, I didn't feel the need to repeat this year.

DC's group, the Defenestrators, are a sad rip-off of the NYC-based Improv Everywhere.

There's an original post:

"NYC's version is cooler."

majapa- it was my understanding that Improv Everywhere encouraged other cities to participate and hold their own no-pants rides. They even list the DC ride on their site:

Oh dear, I don't appreciate improv anywhere, let alone everywhere.

They should rename themselves Awkward and Not Really Funny Everywhere.

I love the fact that Sommer created a "No Pants Metro Ride" tag!

Is every story today going to be about hot dogs?

I'm all for group pranks, but I just don't get the point of this one anymore. It's been done a few times before and it's...just....not funny anymore. Just my 2 cents.

Ooooh, folks wearing boxers on the metro. How edgy!

Seriously, folks, you can see more skin on the mall in the summer. Amazonian blonde excluded, of course.

Where were events like this when I was single? I mean, the event itself has done at least half of my work for me in terms of getting the girl out of her pants!

you can get me out of my pants anytime baby!

i like the pretty one in the stripey scarf. yum!

I'm sensing some jealousy from the commentors who wished they would have participated, but chickened out because they didn't have balls as big as banana-hammock.

Really tho, we aren't anarchaists trying to declare our individuality. Most of us were bored, found this event, and just wanted to try to make the world a brighter place in the dark winter by showering those on the metro with our moonlight. :)

AND--most of us hadn't even heard of the Defenstrators before this event. We had heard of 'no pants' and wanted to participate.

It was really fun. You should be sad that you missed out.

(and no i wasnt a girl in boxers, i had on real underpants).
