Shortly after his Wednesday night Oath of Office do-over, President Obama motorcaded to the D.C. Armory for the final official inaugural event of an endless weekend.
The Obama for America Staff Ball, free and mostly attended by under-30 campaign staffers and their guests, featured speeches by the new President and Vice President, performances by Arcade Fire and Jay-Z, and a cavernous building transformed by flowing tapestries, "Renewing America's Promise" plaques, and several beer and wine bars and buffet tables.
Obama praised his former charges for their discipline and hard work over the last two years. He urged them not to put what they brought to the campaign on the shelf and wait for the next four years, and to lead by the force of their example in whatever they next pursue.

So did they give out Schedule C appointments as door prizes or is there some sort of casting couch at Plouffe's rental property?
No cost tickets, good entertainment, free drinks and snacks, and an appearance by Obama? That sounds a hell of a lot better than the deal people got who paid $250 or $500 for tickets to a formal gathering that Obama didn't even attend (Green Ball, etc.). How exactly are people who went to this party "Folks Who Didn't Know Any Better," or am I just missing the joke?

I think it was a reference to the speech that Obama gave. Guess you had to be there...

The title is confusing, and references one of the photo captions. It's something Obama said at the ball:
The President and icon of the room thanked staffers for their neophyte naievete. "You didn't know any better when folks said I couldn't win," or that you couldn't raise money $25 at a time. "You just went ahead and did it."
Bad writing. Bad ethics. I'm sure whoever brought him to the event didn't think it would end up on DCist- there is a respect that when you bring a guest- it doesn't end up on the blog. The article doesn't capture the real energy of the evening or what it meant that the whole team O was in place. This post reminds me why blogging isn't real journalism, and to take everything with a grain of salt.
