UPDATE: It's looking like the concert will begin at 2 p.m.
Confirmed musical performers include: Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Bono, Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, Renee Fleming, Josh Groban, Herbie Hancock, Heather Headley, John Legend, Jennifer Nettles, John Mellencamp, Usher Raymond IV, Shakira, Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, will.i.am, and Stevie Wonder.
That's a long list of performers for a 2-hour concert, so expect one or two songs tops from each artist.
Also announced was a list of speakers and individuals who will read historical passages: Jamie Foxx, Martin Luther King III, Queen Latifah and Denzel Washington. The Rt. Reverend V. Gene Robinson will give the invocation. Additional performers will be announced as they are confirmed.
We're thrilled to see the Boss on the final lineup, and many others (Bono! Stevie Wonder! Beyonce! Mary J. Blige!) are also fantastically awesome. The likes of Garth Brooks and Josh Groban are apparently just par for the course when designing something aimed at appealing to the entire country, so we suppose we'll take what we can get.

wait, "bono" ...? since when does bono perform without U2? or is he not singing at all, and just peddling (red) ipods?
he performs without them quite a bit. including the nye show at the lincoln memorial for y2k.
I'm hoping that some day, in his heart of hearts, he will see fit to set aside any lingering ill will from the past and reunite with Cher.
bleh! oh and to answer your previous post, Beyonce, Shakira, and Mary J. Blige will be staying with me (and they won't be wearing pants).
Does the event start at 7, or is that just the time that it is being televised? I had read before that it was an afternoon thing.
Just don't want to get there late!
The Post is updating their story to say the air time is from 7-9, not necessarily the show time.

Usher Raymond IV? Did I miss the part when he started calling himself by his full given name?
And many moons ago I actually went to a Garth Brooks concert, it was a darn tootin' fun time. He wore his half black, half white shirt and what looked like a 30 gallon hat. He had a pretty big head to cover at that point.
If they don't get everyone on stage together to sing "We Are The World" or "Do They Know It's Inauguration Day?" I'm gonna be pissed.
Maybe all of them will join will.i.am to do his "Yes We Can" song? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjXyqcx-mYY
What's a "Josh Groban"? Is there a pill for it?
I'm hoping Josh Groban sings his solo piece from "He's F*cking Ben Affleck" - it's a classic.
Yes, but will Obama be there? That would be the real celebrity appearance...
i would have pegged garth brooks as a mccain fan.
Why? Because he sings country songs? Wow
Nice counterpoint to Rick Warren with V. Gene Robinson! I just wish it was airing on a channel I actually got (seriously, I bet a lot of these folks would've performed for free...why not put it on PBS like the Independence Day concerts on the Mall, or at the very least on a network?)
"According to the Presidential Inaugural Committee, HBO will televise the event on an open signal, working with all of its distributors to allow Americans across the country with access to cable, telcos or satellite television to join in the celebration for free."
Well that's pretty cool of them. Now I can actually watch this because the chances of me going out to see this live is probably slim to none (mostly because of the 20 degree weather).
Two hours taped. Who knows how long it will actually last.
And I thought it was going to be aired live, but I guess not. I also have heard it's an afternoon event.
Both Clinton and Bush did appear at their Lincoln Memorial welcome ceremonies/concerts. Remember seeing Bush try to dance with Ricky Martin?
Screw those yo-yo's. I'll do anything to hear Obama sing: Can't Get Enough Of Your Love.
What? No Metal?!?!?!?! pppssshhhh.
Right. Apparently We Are Not exactly One.
Post says 2PM start:

WTOP is saying that U2 is playing. Or maybe they think Bono = U2, which isn't always the case.
Lousy timing though, running the concert opposite the NFC championship game. Should have had it at night, run off the tourists with the cold.
John Cougar Mellonhead? Spare me.
Any chance we are going to get a DCist Guide to Inauguration Weekend?
Nothing like an outdoor concert in 32 degree weather. At least the Park Police can't tell if the cloud rising around my head is my breath or my doobie.
