The Obama Transition Office released a few photos of the Obama family getting ready for the girls' first day at school in D.C. this morning. You can see the photoset on Flickr. The images depict the Obamas in their suite at the Hay-Adams Hotel this morning before leaving to take Sasha and Malia to Sidwell Friends. The AP reported that Michelle Obama accompanied the girls to school this morning — Sasha is attending the Bethesda, Md., elementary-school campus, where she is in second grade. Malia is at the middle school campus in the District, where she's in fifth grade.

Thats great. Not even going to school in D.C.

OK, HCE, if you were the President-elect, which DC school would you send your 7-year-old to?

I wouldn't have to worry about that, because my children would have been eaten by the Ward 8 Council Member!

Ha!

Uh HCE, the lower school for Sidwell is in Bethesda and the upper school is in D.C.

He's going to be the president of the UNITED STATES. Why should he have to send his kids to school in DC? Now boarding school in Switzerland would be a different story...

I saw the kids enter the Sidwell Friends campus this morning. I thought it was a nice tough that the headmaster dug a small pond in front of the gate so the daughters of the chosen one could walk on walter before attending classes.

Ham and cheese Lunchables? PB&J? Personal pan pizzas at the Sidwell Friends caf? A nation eagerly awaits.

Tons of traffic this morning on Wisconsin Avenue in front of Sidwell. Lots of cops and news media.

I can just hear the girls saying, "But Dad, you're the President!"
