>> Blues lovers should head down to the Millennium Stage on Thursday to check out Delta Moon. The Atlanta-based duo centers around the slide guitar to deliver their traditional sound. 6 p.m. Free.

>> One of the District's best free concert programs begins this Thursday at National Geographic. The annual Rhythm Road series kicks off with The Vice Versa All Stars at 6 p.m. and The Student Loan at 7:15 p.m. The performances take place at National Geographic’s Grosvenor Auditorium, 1600 M Street NW.

>> One of the area's best traditional jazz vocalists, Janine Carter, will be leading a group this Friday at Jazz Night in Southwest. 6 to 9 p.m. $5

>> Roy Ayers is one of the most sampled jazz musicians in history, and he'll be playing this weekend at Blues Alley. The legendary vibist/vocalist has 8 and 10 p.m. sets Thursday through Sunday and tickets will be $35 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.

>> Son of jazz legend Don Cherry, multi-instrumentalist David Ornette Cherry, is establishing himself as a jazz musician worthy of wider recognition. He will be performing 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets this Friday and Saturday at the historic Bohemian Caverns, which is quickly becoming the hottest jazz spot in the city. Tickets are $20.

>> Trombonist Frank Lacy, one of many veterans worthy of wider recognition, will be playing this Friday and Saturday at Twins Jazz. Tickets to the 9 and 11 p.m. sets are $20.

>> Up and coming local tenorman Elijah Balbed will be leading a group this Sunday at Twins Jazz. Call 202-234-0072 for set time and cover information.

>> Next Monday, the Bossa Bistro & Lounge is the place to be. Saxophonist Jason Gillenwater leads a group comprised of pianist Dan Roberts, drummer Larry Ferguson, Unbuckled alum Matt Grason on bass, and Three Stars alum Anthony Pirog on guitar. The band will be playing a mix of original tunes and compositions by the finest in modern jazz. Call 202-667-0088 for set time and cover information.
