US Airways flight 1549, heading from LaGuardia to Charlotte, crashed into the middle of the Hudson River after taking off at 3:11 p.m. WABC says there were 146 passengers on board the flight, along with 5 crew members. MSNBC is showing images of ferries rescuing passengers from the partially floating fuselage, though so far there is no report on how many passengers have been safely evacuated from the crash scene. The cause of the crash is believed to have been a flock of birds striking the engine; there is no indication of any terrorist act. Stay tuned to Gothamist for the latest updates.

Pilots are some kind of lords or wizards to do a controlled ditch and have the aircraft remain completely intact. Bravo to Maverick and Goose!!!!!!!!
GOOSE KILLER!!!!
Seriously! The passengers are probably getting their luggage delivered to them right now.
Yet another reason to avoid USAirways....aside from their $2 cups of water and sour employee morale. Glad everyone is safe though...
Apparently the engine failure was caused by Canadian geese.
Blame Canada!
Obviously, the geese are terrorists! We'll be invading Canada tomorrow.
