The Post is reporting that there was a large-scale fight at Cardozo High School, located on Clifton Street NW between 12 and 13th Streets, during the lunch hour today. An estimated 15 students were injured, five of whom were taken to the hospital. The fight apparently began after a dispute between a large group of girls, and escalated to include more people. Police made 16 arrests stemming from the fight, on such charges as assault and disorderly conduct. From what we've heard, the fight broke out shortly after noon and caused a portion of the school to be briefly evacuated.

The Post is saying, "Shortly after the incident, one teenage girl said there was 'blood everywhere,' but police said that was not at all the case, and that they did not find blood on the scene." But my girlfriend teaches there and says there was definitely A LOT of blood afterward and the one student who was unconscious had been stabbed.
While many black people were upset when Bill Cosby aired their "dirty laundry" about the sad state of black american "culture", he responded by declaring that it was no secret, that indeed "your dirty laundry gets out of school at 3:30". Looks like Cosby was right, give or take a few hours.
That school is ideally situated in a place for new residential development, close it. Also, how could the fight have happened at noon today (according to the Post) it's still 11:45?
Developers have been eyeing Cardozo High for decades. It's got one of the best views in the city. However, an unholy alliance of Columbia Heights hippies and Shaw geriatrics keeps torpedoing the idea. Also, real estate development capital is about as hard to find as a virgin at DC Eagle.
Wow, who needs school reform when you could just shut them down instead and populate them with granite countertops and still more latte-sipping twits? Why hasn't this been thought of earlier?
