>> The big event of the weekend is Luck of the Draw: An Art & Music Experience, which takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the Capitol Riverfront Neighborhood in various locations. The event is a collaboration between The Pink Line Project, Artomatic and the Capitol Riverfront BID. Look for RED: St. Valentine Bled For Us, curated by Sondra Arkin and Ellyn Weiss, and a show curated by Ten Miles Square, DCist Heather’s photography venture. Hours are Friday and Saturday from 6-10 p.m. and Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Start at the tent on Half Street, between L and K Streets, SE.
>> Randall Scott Gallery, which is moving to Brooklyn, is having an "RSG is Moving to Brooklyn Party" on Friday at 7 p.m. at the gallery. All are invited to attend, and see the Facebook invite for more information.
>> The Curator’s Office closes Lucid Dreaming: Simon Gouverneur, Jason Hughes, Paul Laffoley on Saturday with a gallery talk at 5:30 p.m. about how art can induce a mesmerized state, and a reception from 5-6:30 p.m. Curator's Office artist Kathryn Cornelius will be whipping up Cupid's Curse cocktails and other refreshments will be served as well.
>> Art, politics and baked goods converge on Saturday during the Presidential Cupcakes Demonstration at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. From 12-5 p.m., artist and baker Zilly Rosen will be crafting a double portrait of Presidents Obama and Lincoln out of cupcakes. She’ll be using over 5,000 of them, and after 5 p.m. you can help “de-install” the portrait by eating the cupcakes. The event is part the Presidential Family Fun Day at the museum.
>> The ninth annual Flamenco Festival features three performances this weekend at The George Washington University Lisner Auditorium. Tonight see Noche de Sevilla featuring Arcángel, Dorantes and Rosario Toledo at 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday The Antonio Gades Company presents Carmen. There's a free ham and cheese tasting at 7 p.m. on Sunday courtesy of Jaleo. Visit Ticketmaster for pricing and tickets.
>> Zenith Gallery is holding a Valentine's Day Party and closing sale preview from 7-10 p.m. on Saturday. The cost is $35, which benefits the Zenith Community Arts Foundation, and you can get 15%-75% off artworks while sipping champagne and noshing on desserts.

>> The reception for the Washington Sculptors Group's Sculpture Now 2009 is tonight from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Washington Square. The show runs through May 2.
>> Jackie's Restaurant in Silver Spring is launching a small art space adjacent to the restaurant, called the Back Room, which will host art shows, performances and readings. The first show is an exhibit of works by singer/songwriter Marti Jones. The opening reception is tonight from 6-10 p.m.
>> The opening reception for Book Ends: Books as Art is tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the Target Gallery at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria. The event is part of their monthly Second Thursday Art Night.
>> The Fraser Gallery is holding an opening reception and awards ceremony tomorrow as part of their 8th annual International Photography Competition. The gallery received over 350 entries from 116 local, national and international photographers, and curator Catriona Fraser selected 26 images by 19 photographers for the exhibit. The opening, which is in conjunction with the Bethesda Art Walk, is from 6-9 p.m. Visit the Art Walk web site for more information about other participating galleries.
>> Also on display during the Bethesda Art Walk on Friday is Emily Piccirillo's Into the Open at Gallery Neptune.
>> Civilian Art Projects opens two shows, Seth Adelsberger: Semi-Final Frontiers and Christopher Sims: Guantanamo Bay with a reception on Friday from 7-9 p.m.
>> The Touchstone Gallery is holding an opening reception Friday from 6-8:30 p.m. for the opening of DOUBLE VISION II, which includes work from 60 local artists and runs through March 28.
>> Printmaker and papermaker Gretchen Schermerhorn opens Genetic Drift, a show of her works that explore her fascination with science and psychology in her artistic practice. The reception is Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the District of Columbia Arts Center.
>> Gallery Plan B opens a show of works by painters Keith Clark and Mike McClung with a reception from 6-8 p.m. Saturday. Both artists use geometry heavily in their pieces.
Art Notes:
- Tickets are on sale now for Art with a Heart, Bread for the City's annual fundraiser, which includes both a silent and live auction and dinner. The event is March 19.
- Hamiltonian Artists is closing their application process for the 2009 Hamiltonian Emerging Artists Fellowship Program, which is open to innovative visual artists in all media, on February 28. Visit their web site to apply.
- Israeli artist Ori Gersht is the Hirshhorn’s first Meet the Artist talk of the season, and he swings by the museum on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Two of his films are on display in the Black Box.
- The National Museum of African Art named Johnnetta Cole as director. Cole starts the new gig March 2.
- DCypher Dance presents their first full-length performance on Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Joy of Motion Dance Center.
- Yesterday the Art Gallery at the University of Maryland opened linn meyers/ here today, which features two large-scale wall drawing installations created in situ by the artist. It runs through March 13.
- Tickets go on sale today for ARTINI, the Corcoran Gallery's month-long martini competition. Visit area bars to try artistic concoctions and vote online for your favorite. Celebrate at the end with a party, at which you can try all the competing cocktails, at the Gallery on March 28.
