Arts Agenda

exposed2009.jpg As far as any of us are concerned, there's only one art event going on this weekend that should be on your calendar. (Okay, that's not entirely true; we've got your abbreviated agenda below.)

The third annual DCist Exposed Photography Show opens Friday night, 5 to 9 p.m. at the Gallery at Flashpoint. You've read all about it, so we'll just answer the questions that are starting to full up our inboxes this week:

  • The gallery is located at 916 G Street NW, directly between the Metro Center and Gallery Place Metro stops
  • The reception is free and open to the public; no RSVP needed, just come on down.
  • To help alleviate the crowds this year, we doubled the reception time from two to four hours, with an early start time of 5 p.m., so we recommend arriving early if you can.
  • Dress is casual -- your Friday night wear or jeans and a t-shirt are both just fine.
  • Complimentary wine will be provided by Barefoot Wine
  • All the images are for sale and run between $100 and $300, with most on the lower end of that scale. They can be purchased at the reception or anytime through March 7. Cash or check is preferred; cards also accepted.
If you have any other questions, we'll answer them for you in the comments. See you Friday!

>> On March 3, be sure to make it to our redux of Emerge Exposed, a panel discussion hosted by Pink Line Project in partnership with the Cultural Development Corporation, to talk about "emerging" art collectors. As a compliment to our exhibit that's meant to give a platform for new photographers to display their work, the discussion will focus on visitors who'd like to purchase their first artwork from a gallery, including the practical questions of quality and price, to the benefits of supporting local artists and venues. Panelists include Theo Adamstein, founder of FotoweekDC and president of Chrome Imaging, Jason Horowitz, photographer, Veronica Jackson, collector and principle Jackson Design Group, and Paul Roth, Senior Curator of Photography and Media Arts for the Corcoran Gallery of Art. Moderated by Philippa P.B. Hughes from The Pink Line Project. 7 to 9 p.m. at Flashpoint. $10 suggested donation, RSVP to info[at]thepinklineproject[dot]com.
