Local Baristas Sweep Competition

We posted earlier about the Mid-Atlantic Regional Barista Competition that took place over the weekend. Congrats to locals Katie Duris (Murky Coffee), Allyson Turner (Murky Coffee), David Flynn (Peregrine Espresso), and Jeremy Sterner (Peregrine Espresso) for taking the first four spots, respectively, in a field of over 25. An espresso sure sounds good right about now...

Did the Murky folks threaten to junkpunch the judges if they didn't win???

I take it iced espresso was not on the agenda?

Why no mention of Big Bear winning the ghetto latte competition?

I thought that Murky Coffee was long gone.

As we've specified in numerous threads here...

It's gone in Capitol Hill. Dude didn't pay hundreds of thousands in back taxes and closed shop. The Clarendon location is still up and running despite the threat of junkpunching anyone who walks in the door.

contestants were judged on tattoos and squareness and squatness of eyewear, points deducted for number of gears on bicycle(s)

Lookss like it takes a special sort of hipster douche to be a barista on a competitive level.

absolutely does. what i hear really blew the judges away was the stinkeye a few received while the murkey folks were pouring. they liked that. a lot.

no word from what any of them thought about the great metropolis of cranberry, pa? 'cause it sure as hell seems like a place that could use a junkpunching.
