On top of the smoking manholes and subsequent road closures, Adams Morgan is now facing a water main break at 17th and Euclid Streets NW. WASA has reported that 100 customers are affected by the outage in the area. No word on whether the underground fire that caused the smoke had any effect on the water main.
The good news is that the eastbound lanes of the 1800 Block of Columbia Road NW are open for vehicular traffic (westbound lanes are still closed) and the area has been opened up to pedestrian traffic as of about 3:40 p.m. Pepco is reporting an estimate of eight hours to repair the damage that the underground fire caused, which cut power to several businesses. (Information from AlertDC and the 3rd District police email list).

I've always failed to see the utility of Adams Morgan - not sure why this afternoon is any different in that regard.
Ba dum, ching!
Hey - watch it, boon-d, some of us live in Adams Morgan...
Call that living? Between the Jumbo Slice vomit, the LNS douches, and the people complaining about Jumbo Slice vomit and LNS douches, you're better off moving to Borderstan and sexting your secretary between bites of remorse for ever having moved to this third-world $h!thole.
PS: parking was NOT ample.
There's a DC WASA truck and a backhoe sitting on the driveway of the Diplomat Apartments, on 16th St., next to the building that caught fire over the weekend. Looks like someone else might not be taking a shower for a little while.
I can top that. I saw a 'ho sitting in the back of a DC WASA truck in the driveway of Dorchester House. No idea whether they took a shower afterwards.
Smoking manholes. I just had to say it again.
I've got a question: Does anyone know how WASA figures out that 100 customers are affected? That figure is misleading because it could be units meaning whole apartment buildings, meaning many more than 100 'customers'.
