Good morning, Washington. This DCist editor doesn't personally follow Bravo's Top Chef (spoilers follow!), but if this morning's incoming tweets are any indication, D.C.'s own Carla Hall didn't do so well in last night's finale, and someone named Hosea walked away the big winner—and not necessarily to the delight of fans. Still, if the success of previous locally-based Top Chef losers is any indication, we'll be hearing more from Carla soon enough.

Voting Rights Debate Continues: Senate action is set to continue this morning at 9:30 a.m. on the D.C. House Voting Rights Act. Make sure to catch up on yesterday's action with our comprehensive live-blog, and tune back in this morning for a series of votes on the remaining amendments that were offered yesterday, including Jon Kyl's retrocession amendment and John Ensign's District gun law repeal amendment.

Also of note: the Post reports that yesterday's lengthy House Judiciary Committee hearing did vote to take the House version of the bill to the floor for a vote. The House is expected to vote on the legislation next week.

Briefly Noted: Man fatally stabbed near Howard University ... Woman struck by stray bullet in car ... 1st District Police Station set to open in Southwest ... Two Maryland teens die from the flu ... Gunman sexually assaults two teens in Oxon Hill.

This Day in DCist: In 2008, an ice cream shop on U Street was robbed in broad daylight, and in 2007, we had a big enough snow storm to see a bunch of snowmen in Logan Circle.

Up until last night I thought Carla had it in the bag but why oh why did she listen to that woman?!? If she had cooked her own food she could have won!

Why even mark it a spoiler if you are going to put said spoiler in the same sentence? Thanks a lot.

so, any good news to report?

It's a shame about Hoser Rosenturd winning Top Chef. Carla definitely deserved it.

Agreed. I hate that pathetic whiner and his weird obsession with Stefan was too much to take.

I would agree with you, but one of the bedrock principles of "reality" TV is using editing to make people look like douchebags. No one but the producers knows how many leading questions Hosea was asked about Stefan to make him look like whiny asshole.

@flapjack
You're totally right. Carla's decision to use a technique (sou vide) that had nothing to do with her style of cooking in the final was puzzling and probably cost her the win.

"Man fatally stabbed near Howard University"
Backup Kidney?

Hootie Hooooo! Carla will win fan favorite, for sure. I love her and her peas. And I would definitely go to one of her tastings she talks about setting up in her interview posted yesterday.

Carla might make good food, but her crazy googly eyes and manic personalty was too much for me.

That's why good fancy restaurants don't have a window into the kitchen!

hey, in the long run, with reality shows like this, isn't the notoriety just as important as winning? carla now has a big enough public profile that she should be able to turn it into a lucrative future, i'd think.

Kind of like William Hung on American Idol, but not really.
