The Post's 44 blog informs us that Michelle Obama and a posse of female stars will be blanketing various DCPS campuses today, in an effort to promote Women's History Month and encourage students to set goals and follow their dreams. Celebs like Sheryl Crow and Alicia Keyes will be joined by several female notables including gymnast Dominique Dawes, Mae Jemison, the first African-American woman in space, Gen. Ann Dunwoody, the first American woman to attain the rank of four-star general, and Claire Huxtable herself, actress Phylicia Rashad. The women will be visiting local high school campuses throughout the day -- for example, the First Lady is hosting a roundtable with students at Anacostia High School -- and a group of D.C. area students have been invited to a dinner with the entire female collective tonight at the White House. Check out 44 for the complete list of who's going where.

Mae Jemison is the coolest person ever!
Gotta feel bad for the school that is getting Fran Drescher.
Dude. Fran Drescher's hot.
So long as you've got earplugs.
Only in DC would this be considered an "A-List"
It used to be exciting when Michelle Obama made unscheduled appearances around DC. Now its like when a real A-list celebrity has to cancel on the Tonight Show and they bring on some reptiles from the San Diego Zoo instead. Go ahead, put her on your next Evite. She'll be free that night, trust me.
what a crock. give us the 'A-list' you think the rest of the country would rather see...
it looks to me like they did a great job of picking successful women. i am pretty impressed with Michelle Obama's outreach efforts as 1st Lady.
Michelle-definitely A-List. The rest? let's see...
The former ambassador to Hungary;
The wife of the Mayor of Chicago;
Phylicia Rashad and Fran Drescher, who haven't worked since before most of these students were born.
You want a real A-list? First and foremost, how about Oprah? There is also Meg Whitman? Madonna (whatever you think of her, she is up there with Oprah as far as managing her own business success). Hell, Angelina would draw a boatload of attention to the cause.
You're really this agitated over the use of a ludicrously imprecise word like "A-list" as an adjective by a glorified Washington Post gossip column? No one anywhere said this was "the" A-List, or The Most Famous Women In The World, you seem to have jumped to that snarky conclusion all on your own. Sure it might be a bit of an exaggeration, but I'll take excess enthusiasm over the worn out and knee-jerk gripes about the District you're offering any day.
while i disagree with your panning of the women chosen, i would give you Oprah and Angelina.
Madonna? successful in business definitely. more popular with today's young women than Alicia Keyes? i doubt it.
Actually, Phylicia Rashad is doing a TON of really wonderful work on Broadway, and has been for a while. Most recently in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof w James Earl Jones and Terrence Howard. I think she's a great role model.
Wow, two Bad Girls posts in one day.
