  • Mayor Fenty's public schedule for the weekend just went out, and sure enough, there's nothing on it for the either Saturday or Sunday. Wherever the mayor is on his secret trip, looks like he's missing out entirely on the opening weekend of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. He is planning on attending the ribbon cutting for the new S9 Metrobus Express Route on Monday morning, however.
  • Metro's press release on this evening's double Red Line derailment came after news reports already had the story. WMATA says no injuries have been reported at this time.
  • Kind of amazing: D.C. Child and Family Services Agency spokesperson hangs up on City Paper reporter, says she's not allowed to speak to the press.
  • D.C. police chased and caught a suspected bank robber this morning near Vermont Ave. and K Street NW.
  • Va. Gov. Tim Kaine vetoed the so-called "triggerman" bill again, along with several gun-related bills, including one that would have allowed people to carry concealed firearms into bars restaurants that serve alcohol.
