March Metro Track Maintenance Schedule
Metro released its March track maintenance schedule earlier this week, with some big delays to take note of this coming weekend and beyond.
Friday, March 6, to Sunday, March 8
- Orange Line: Crosstie and track support replacement work between the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU and West Falls Church-VT/UVA stations will create 30 minute delays between 8 p.m., Friday, March 6, to closing (midnight), on Sunday, March 8. While the work is going on, every other Orange Line train in the direction of Vienna/Fairfax-GMU will terminate at West Falls Church-VT/UVA and return to New Carrollton. - Red Line: Also this weekend, work replacing rail fasteners between Silver Spring and Forest Glen will add 20 minute delays as trains single track between the two stations from 8 p.m., Friday, March 6, to closing (midnight) on Sunday, March 8.
Friday, March 13, to Sunday, March 15
- Green and Yellow Lines: 30 minute delays will be in effect due to the continuation of switch replacement work at the Mount Vernon Sq-7th St Convention Center station between Friday, March 13, to Sunday, March 15. In addition to the delays due to single tracking between the Convention Center and U Street, Yellow Line trains will not go all the way to Fort Totten during the entire weekend, meaning travel along the Green/Yellow corridor will take much longer than normal.
- Orange Line: The same Orange Line delays in effect the previous weekend will continue, with 30 minute delays between Vienna/Fairfax-GMU and West Falls Church-VT/UVA, and every other Orange Line train in the direction of Vienna/Fairfax-GMU terminating at West Falls Church-VT/UVA and returning to New Carrollton.
Friday, March 20, to Sunday, March 22
- Red Line: Track work between Grosvenor-Strathmore and Medical Center will add 20 minute delays from 10 p.m., Friday, March 20, to closing (midnight) on Sunday, March 22.
- Blue and Orange Line: Bridge maintenance on the aerial structure outside the Stadium-Armory station will add 30 minute delays between Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory from opening (7 a.m.), to 7 p.m., on Sunday, March 22 only.
