There Are Too Many Guys Named Michael Brown

We have an undeniable surplus of Michael Browns in D.C. There's Michael D. Brown, one of our two elected shadow senators. There's Michael A. Brown, recently elected At-large D.C. Council member (I). And then there's the other Michael D. Brown, disgraced former FEMA head, source of the now famous "Heckuva job, Brownie!" catchphrase thanks to his colossal failure to deal effectively with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. So perhaps FOX News can be forgiven for getting a couple of them mixed up, in this screencap courtesy Media Matters (h/t HuffPo).

Last we checked, Michael A. Brown doesn't have anything to do with FEMA or Oklahoma. Of course, the real comedy in this is that FOX goes ahead and labels Council member Brown as a "Dem strategist." Brown, the son of Clinton cabinet member Ron Brown, won his seat on the Council by running as an Independent in Democrat's clothing, beating Republican challenger Patrick Mara by a huge margin for the mandated non-Democrat seat.

I agree. One of these Mikes should change his last name to "Hunt." You can never have enough of those.

Let's not forget Mike Brown "Washington's other monument" of GW basketball.

Geez I'm old.

Sounds like they're all douchebags, to varying degrees.

Or
Mike Easter
Mike Hunt
Mike Raffone
Mike Rotch
Mike Sweeney

You forgot Mike Hawk, Mike Arbrokdown and Mike Reditsux.

if someone mistook me for FEMA director during Katrina, I would probably try to sue. or punch them in the face.

A justification for junk-punching if ever I saw one.

what does FOX stand for? i always see it in caps (instead of Fox News, it's FOX News), so it must be an acronym, right?

Can't we solve this in the gladiator ring, like we did in ancient times? Call it 'Creative Destruction: One Michael Brown to Rule them All'. Give the net and trident to the FEMA one.

Of course, my money is on the shadow senator, a rank two levels higher than shadow ninja.

You're too kind, Sommer. This is the 2nd screw up I've heard about in a couple of weeks for Fox News and I don't even watch the channel. The first one being a story on the commotion surrounding Charles Freeman's appointment to head the NIC and they posted a picture of his son instead.

Flimsy Onerous Xcrement?

Isn't Brown more of a democrat in independent's clothing? I felt sorry that Mara lost; as for Brown, 1975 called, they want their ideas back.

Both Michael Browns have used "robo-calls," but "FEMA Brown" didn't abuse them.

i'm very appreciative of everyone who came through with the creative things FOX could stand for.

now, can we get michael brown to declare his political affiliation once and for all? you can't call yourself a dem. strategist and be an elected official who is officially 'independent' at the same time...
