Thursday:
>>The past few years have produced several British soul sirens. Brighton native Alice Russell should be counted among them. She'll be at Bohemian Caverns for an intimate show. $15 in advance, 7 p.m.

Friday:
> We spoke to the guys from Foreign Exchange the last time they were in town. Well, they're back and including former Three Stars alum Zo! and native Washingtonian YahZarah in their mix. Also joining them at the Black Cat will be the L.A.-based electro soul group, J*DaVeY. $18, 9 p.m.

>> It's the first Friday of the month, which means Chris Burns is at the Rock and Roll Hotel for another edition of Disco City. Free, 10 p.m.

>> DJ Nitekrawler's "Moneytown" returns to Dahlak (1771 U Street NW) with guest DJs Larry Grogan and Prestige to bring a mix of all funky music. Free, 10 p.m.

Saturday:
>> The continuing "Hip Hop Cinema Cafe" series will this week features the documentary, Counting Headz: South Africa's Sistaz in Hip Hop, at the Historical Society of Washington. After the film, a panel discussion will take place including emcees Abeer aka Sabreena Da Witch,
Porche' 9-11, and Carolyn Malachi. Free, 2 p.m.

>>House music luminaries and label co-owners, DJs Oji and Pope, will make their way from Baltimore to D.C.'s Trinidad and Tobago Association (5123 Georgia Avenue NW) for the latest "Hometown Heroes" session. $10 before 1 a.m./$15 after 1 a.m., 10 p.m.

Sunday:
>> One of the longest running married couple acts ever, Ashford and Simpson, will be at the Birchmere. $65, 7:30 p.m.

Monday:
>> Detroiter Bettye LaVette debuted during the hey day of Motown, though she didn't sign with the label until the 1980s, but seems to have really hit her soulful stride in the last few years. She'll be at the 9:30 Club. $25, 7 p.m.
