>> Tonight, view the work of three talented, D.C. photographers who combine their passions for music and photography to capture the spirit and energy of local artists and headliners alike. Our own Heather Goss' Ten Miles Square presents I'm with the Band, featuring Kyle Gustafson, Martin Locraft and Nestor Diaz, all of whom have had work featured on DCist. We're pretty proud of the talent found among our staff here at DCist, so you'll find us at this opening at Dahlak, 6 to 8 p.m. $5 suggestion donation.
>> Even though peak cherry blossom viewing was last week, the celebration continues at the Anacostia Cherry Blossom Festival this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy an art walk and an Art and Craft market. On Friday night, celebrate pink in a slightly different manner at Cherry Blast. This evening art event will feature art, music, fashion, anime and origami. 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. $10.
>> Love Calls Us to the Things of This World opens Saturday at Irvine Contemporary. See artist Shawne Major's assemblages of found objects that reveal her process of transforming everyday objects into an objet d'art. Opening reception 6 to 8 p.m.
>> Tonight, get your hands dirty and help create some art at the Torpedo Factory's Target Gallery. In conjunction with the exhibit Reclaimed, a site specific installation will be installed in the main hall of the Torpedo Factory. The installation will include a large tree, garden wall and flowers, all made from recycled materials. The public is invited to come and help with the installation at the opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m., with a gallery talk with Steven and Linda Krensky at 7 p.m.
>> It's Bethesda's Art Walk this Friday. Neptune Gallery opens April, a group show with an opening reception at 6 p.m. and will host an artist reception Saturday at 7 p.m. The Fraser Gallery hosts Bethesda Green by highlighting two artists that incorporate reuse into their work. Beata Drozd creates mixed media collages from the pages of Vogue and Mike Fitts paints everyday objects onto reclaimed metal. Opening reception Friday, 6 to 9 p.m.
>> On Monday, Govinda Gallery opens Grateful Life a show of new works by Stanley Mouse. Opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m.
>> If you're an artist and want to help out a good cause consider signing up to create some art that will benefit CAMP Rehoboth —a GBLT community center in Rehoboth Beach. Your donated creations will be sold at LottoHEART with proceeds going to CAMP. For more information and to sign up visit the LottoHEART website here.
>> The Capitol Hill Art League, a program of the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, opens its sixth, untitled show of the 2008-09 season, on Saturday with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. This show was juried by Michael Skalka, Conservation Administrator at the National Gallery of Art.
>> Friday night, head on up Georgia Avenue for an Arts Happy Hour at Sabor Cafe and Catering. The Art and Media House of the Latin American Youth Center hosts this opportunity to view the paintings of Ronald Chacón and Sami Miranda. 7 to 10 p.m.
>> Mason/Rhynes Productions, a D.C. area arts organization, celebrates their 10-year anniversary with a special Expressions Series: LATE NIGHT performance event featuring past and present M/RP artists, along with a very special and perhaps one-time-only performance by M/RP’s Artistic and Managing Directors Gesel Mason and Cheles Rhynes. The fundraiser is Saturday, April 11 at 11 p.m. at Joy of Motion Dupont Circle Studio. $25
>> The Art League opens Roots and Wings a solo show by Christine Giammichele. Explore the symbiotic relationship between endangered birds, flora, and pollinator insects at the opening reception tonight from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
