The Golden Triangle Business Improvement District sent around word to their members today that the District Department of Transportation has informed them of a month-long sidewalk and road repair project on K Street that is set to begin this week.

The work will include repairs of sidewalks, curbs and gutters, pavement repair, milling and paving along K Street NW from 12th Street to 18th Street. The sidewalk work is scheduled to begin tomorrow, weather permitting, and completed by around May 15.

DDOT spokesperson John Lisle said most of the sidewalk work will occur between rush hours. Then, beginning on or about April 17, nighttime roadway repaving will commence for three to four days, which will shut down a couple of lanes at a time.

Street parking will be restricted in some areas along this part of K Street while the work is ongoing. Parking restriction signs will be posted at least 72 hours in advance.

Lucky K Street! I went jogging this morning and nearly tripped on the mangled concrete mixed with asphalt and tree roots outside of my apartment that passes as a sidewalk. Who did they lobby to get this done?

Now wait just a cotton-pickin' minute! Didn't they just rip up the old sidewalks and put new ones in within the last 3-4 months on the 1400-1500 block of K Street, NW? Why are they doing it all over again????

Probably those were part of it, and now it's on to streets (and sidewalks) West of that.
