Everything's coming up Milhouse for the District today. The Smithsonian named the designer for the NMAAHC, the Earth is bringing the Flaming Lips to the Mall this Sunday, the Wizards hired Flip Saunders to steer the team away from oblivion, the Caps are virtually giving away Mystics tickets, and a baby giant anteater revealed its sex. So what about all the bad news?
» Maryland legislators struck a deal to deny Maryland licenses to illegal immigrants beginning in July 2015, as reported today by ABC7. Way back when, Matthew Yglesias observed that Democratic lawmakers have a hard time dealing with this issue, because on one level people living in the country illegally should not be allowed to do anything that is legal, even order coffee from Starbucks. But reductive measures like this one lead to bad and inadvertent outcomes -- like illegal immigrants driving without licenses.
» How come the Post won't cover the Orioles? The answer, according to Post sports editor Emilio Garcia-Ruiz, should be "pretty obvious". (No monies.)
» While Anne Arundel County police and fire officials were working to extinguish a fire, some guy kept getting too close to the blaze. The Associated Press reports that when officials tried to stop him from doing that, he tried to turn a fire hose on them. So they Tasered him. Your guess is as good as mine.
» If you were wondering when a New York politician would use the Virginia Tech massacre to score cheap political points against an opponent, know that, at long last!, New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg has stepped up. Yesterday, Bloomberg appeared in Arlington County with victims who were wounded in the 2007 Virginia Tech shootings in support of a new television ad he's running against Virginia Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell. Gawd, I don't even want to slug this story.
» Bedbug summit in Arlington! That's good news, right? FOR BEDBUGS MAYBE.

Ballou HS Rocks the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

I re-upped my fishwrap (i.e., WaPo) subscription for another two months, but it's getting harder and harder to justify the expense, especially with the new rate increases. I'm already paying an internet bill. Why should I pay for the paper version of the same stories I'm reading online?
Yeah, illegal immigrants definitely weren't driving without licenses before. Defying immigration laws is one thing, but driving laws, hey, you don't eff with that.
Honestly, why is this even an issue? Giving an illegal immigrant a legal document is in itself illegal. Hell, let's give a passport too. We don't want to deny them the right to vacay.
You incorrectly infer that Emilio Garcia-Ruiz said that it should be "pretty obvious" why the Post won't cover the O's, when in fact, he said that it should be "pretty obvious" that the coverage has been trimmed. The writer was sounding conciliatory and contrite and you made it into something that sounds like the writer is talking down to the readers.
