>> Last year, Wayna was one of our Three Stars artists. Since then, she's garnered a Grammy nomination and raised profile. She'll be at Posh as a part of the "R&B Live" series. $20 with a two drink minimum, 8 p.m.

>> In a rematch of contenders for the 1995 Source Magazine Award in the "Best New Artist, Group" category, DJs 2-Tone Jones and Marshall Law will pit the music of Outkast and The Roots against each other in another round of the "Vs." party. The confrontation will go down at Almaz (1212 U Street NW). $5, 9 p.m.

Thursday:
>> A favorite on the indie-soul circuit (and in D.C.), Howard alum Eric Roberson will be the headlining performer at the Birchmere. Joining him will be Anthony David and Angela Johnson. $29.50, 7:30 p.m.

>> Philly-born singer Res (pictured) hasn't put out a formal ablum since 2001's How I Do, but has stayed busy working with Talib Kweli. She'll be performing at Liv with hip-hop group E44 and DJ Stylus. $20 in advance, 8:30 p.m.

>> Mixing jazz rhythms with dancefloor sensibilitites, House of Soul features six musicians, including bassist and Unbuckled 7 participant Matt Grason. Their live house music set will take place at Bossa and will be supplemented by a DJ set by another Unbuckled 7 alum, V:shal Kanwar. Free, 10 p.m.

Friday:
>> The "Black Light Special" party returns to Selam (1524 U Street NW) with DJ Underdog spinning Afro-soul, Afro-beat, and other good music during his strictly vinyl set. $1, 10 p.m.

Saturday:
>> ?uestlove will be taking a break from his weekday job drumming with The Roots and on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to entertain folks at the 9:30 Club with one of his eclectic DJ sets. $15, 11 p.m.
